Spent many many hours rebuilding my 24 year old Quicken file due to some mysterious corruption that appeared recently and can not be repaired by restoring old backups.. All the reports work fine — everything calculates fine, but if I go to edit a transaction, the security does not exist — it wants me to create the new security. If I use the same security name, it tells me it already exists. I can duplicate the ticker, but then I get 2 securities with the same ticker and different names. If I look at or export the security list, all the securities are there. I hope someone has a solution for this, other than my editing hundreds and hundreds of investment transactions one at a time and re-creating the securities?

Best Answer. July 14 Accepted Answer. Exported a QIF of all the accounts and securities. Deleted all the Quicken delete investment price history brokerage accounts and securities. It continues to blow my mind how difficult it is to rebuild a Canadian file with multicurrency. I guess Canada is just not a big enough market for H. Capital to put any effort into it. July So this only seems to be happening with the US securities? The securities from the Canadian exchange are virtually all working fine.

So I supposed I will have to rename them, and recreate all of them in US currency with the original name? Any chance they will link to the existing transactions then?
